10 Top tips to get the best out of your iPhone

Whether you’re a brand new iPhone user or you’ve been a fan for years, you’re probably keen to find out some of the secrets of the iPhone that have been designed to save you time and effort. So, without further ado, here are 10 top tips to get the best use out of your iPhone.

  1. Speed up charging time by simply putting your iPhone into Airplane Mode when it’s plugged in.
  2. Want to change your 4-digit passcode to a password with letters? Simply go to Settings > Passcode Lock. Turn off ‘Simple Passcode’ and, as if by magic, a full keyboard will appear to allow you to create your own password.
  3. Let someone know your exact location by going into iMessage, tapping Details and then Send my current location. Your contact will receive a map telling them where you are. Great for those times when you don’t even know where you are, as we’re sure there are many of those!
  4. Fed up of falling asleep while listening to music on your phone? Simply go to your clock and tap the Timer icon, and you can choose the amount of time you’d like your music to play for.
  5. Travelling in an unfamiliar city or country? Go to the App Store and tap Near Me or Explore and you’ll see exactly what the locals are downloading.
  6. Share your purchases with your family; up to 6 people can access purchases from iTunes, iBooks and the App store.
  7. Don’t want to send that long text you’ve just typed? Simply shake your iPhone and you’ll be asked whether you want to undo what you’ve just typed. If you delete it and then decide you want to send it, simply shake your phone again and retrieve the original message by tapping Redo Typing.
  8. Respond to a text in a jiffy with one single swipe. Just pull the alert down and you can respond instantly without exiting your current screen.
  9. For self-confessed selfie junkies, taking a more natural pic is made easier by simply using the volume up button on your headphones rather than tapping the screen.
  10. And finally, if your phone is constantly interrupting your precious sleep, but you’re worried you might miss an urgent call, go into Settings > Do Not Disturb, and you can set select an option which allows your iPhone to ring should you receive a call from a selected contact.
